Practice was only about 45 minutes, just ran some 3 on 3 drills. Pretty relaxed easy going attitude, and the fact the rink was tiny as hell. There was actual midget games going on next to them. Maybe a collection of 25-30 leaf fans and 25-30 people who were just hockey fans. Tons of kids got all their equipment signed, some kid got kessel to try and sign a Ranger jersey. Since I wasn't in the mood to knock over small children I didn't get much signed. Reimer, Kessel and Phaneuf came up to every single fan that was there almost. Talked with everyone took photos etc. Pretty amazing of them. Armstrong was joking around a bit but the rest of them were more or less spending time with the dads and who can blame them.
I actually got to talk with Komisarek as he wasn't skating with the team to start but was running around central park. Really nice guy, just said hey more or less said hes on his way to recovery wants to get back for the fans and just other small talk. Also got to talk a bit with Orr and Steckel (who was also posing with all the fans and kids). Reimer and Phaneuf thanked everyone for coming out.
Kulemin and Frattin stayed bit after to practice shots and deflections. Reimer was joking around quite a bit. I heard some fans saying Gus wasn't in the best of moods I think some young kids innocently asked him about his dad. You could also see him try and shrink away during all the father son photo ops. Frattin's dad was pretty sociable and a nice guy.
All in all pretty cool event, I'm hoping for a good game tomorrow.
As Henny tweeted after the sens had an outdoor practice in central park last year they rattled off 11 in a row.
Hey that's great. Thanks for posting those. Some good shots in there. My friend drove down to NYC today, wish I'd have known I would have told him about this event.
