Jussi, yes very much so, low FOT, low FOR, lack of centres on the Canes makes him close.

However Marleau takes lots of draws, more then lots of centres, he does so with a high rank on his team in FOT, and has a face-of-ratio above lots of other guys (even given his very high TOI).

Very have a rule adjustment coming -> just getting final comments I believe.
I'm just saying when he plays 86% of his time with the 3 guys with more FOT than him, you know it's majority of them either getting kicked out, or Marleau on the PK.

But I digress.
it is indeed digressing when you think the principle embraced in the CC on this matter has been caring about numbers in the BBKL instead of going crazy about where the player mostly skates on the ice.
that is because Marleau will bring numbers for your team, won't be skating down the wing on the ice. ;)

Ok, here it is..

the CC approved the following adjustments:

1 - FOT threshold for b) moves up to 470.

2 - if a GM points out his player doesn't meet b) nor c), then he stays a winger even if meeting a)

3 - there will be early update available for players on the bubble: after having played 26 games, centers who had FOR <.4 and rookie centers are moved to W (upon GM's request*) IF their FOR is <.3 in the new season.

* GMs will have a limited window to apply for the early update: from 26 to 29 gp; if the request is posted in this thread after the player has reached 30gp it won't be taken into consideration and the player will remain a C at least until the ASB.
If the player happens to reach the 26gp mark after the All Star break, he won't be eligible for a new update. i.e. ASB updates will be final.

Accordingly with this, i'm gonna remove J.Jokinen from the list of Centers.
Please point out other players that may need to be taken off the list.
I mean, Shiv told us there is a population of those so.. bring 'em on.

This might be the best rule change in the history of BBKL, I'm really impressed with the CC.

Honestly, it probably doesn't affect anybody on my team (I'll check though), but thanks.

It was too black and white before IMO.

This is perfect, allowing an appeal, the not B), C) but meeting A.. etc.

Great job CC. :)

We tried to make use of everyone's comments, while maintaining the advantages of a clear, non-subjective, system. It will still require adjustments by many GMs, but accurate positional listings will be an improvement in the BBKL long-term.

oh, some reasoning behind it:

about 1,
470 works cause it means basically no one will be made a C with a FOR lower than .27 (if you do the maths with potential icetimes, like Iginla's, you can see that), and when putting this thing together tests on the matter suggested that basically no one would have a FOR higher than .27 without having indeed played center at least part of last season. This makes realistic the occurrence of such player playing at least a small part (see point 3) of the following bbkl season as C.

about 2,
reasons were already discussed in this thread.

about 3,
if you look at the list and the showed FORs, this won't relate many players.
And if we have like 10 players that after having played 26 games are fairly moved to wing accordingly with a simple and objective criterion, it's no real complication.
We realize these early updates would only go one way, but if a winger needs to become a center it will happen anyway at the ASB. We should still have all positions right for the decisive part of the season and meanwhile teams won't be damaged for a long part of the season (like 50 games before the ASB) if some players on the bubble originally got the wrong assessment by our criteria.

So the opposite, a winger that should be a centre, happens at the All-Star Break, and not before?

And the games 26-29, these changes only occur if the GM requests it right? You guys won't be going out of your way to make all changes.

yes, this way we won't be going around monitoring players and checking stuff..

also, anyone losing a W to C during the season will have plenty of time to see it coming and adjust.
