Excellent news. More ice time for Philippe Myers. Really want to see what he's got.

Same knee at that. At this point he's going to need to go to a bad team that can give him the ice time he needs when he get's healthy.

Freidman: "There is word this afternoon that LA has informed Ilya Kovalchuk he will be out of the lineup for the foreseeable future. He is welcome to practice with the club, but he will not be playing. Obviously, more details as they occur."

** Update: The Hockey News: “Sources are telling @TheHockeyNews that Ilya Kovalchuk’s release from the Los Angeles Kings is being finalized. Details are being worked out.” **

Elliotte Friedman: There is some talk that the Los Angeles Kings have told forward Ilya Kovalchuk that he won’t be in their lineup for the foreseeable future. He can still practice with the team. More details will be coming.

Pierre LeBrun: Kovalchuk receives his final signing bonus money on December 15th. He’ll only be owed his $700,000 salary for the rest of this season. He is still under contract for next season at a $4.25 million salary – if he’s still in the NHL.
David Pagnotta: Kovalchuk hasn’t worked out in LA as they had hoped. The Kings and Kovalchuk had a meeting yesterday morning. The Kings have been trying to trade him dating back to the trade deadline last year.

David Pagnotta: The Kings have been trying to trade Kovalchuk again recently. Have been told that his agent is helping out trying to get a trade worked out.

When was the last time a team was so reliant on one single player? His dominance is astounding.

Reminds me of the Islanders teams that made the playoffs with only Tavares as a real difference maker. Karlsson with Sens pre Mark Stone breakout as well.

McJesus is on another level, but in terms of teams being driven by 1 player that's what comes to mind.

What's the German word for chopped liver?

It probably won't ever happen but I'd love to see how dominant Draisaitl would be if he can be the star of his own team. McDavid is great but Draisaitl can't be overlooked. I'd kinda compare their dynamic to Crosby-Malkin but those two don't often play together other than on the power play. The trios of Landeskog-MacKinnon-Rantanen and Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak are fantastic but there's no better duo than McDavid and Draisaitl.

I love a Monday afternoon call-up prior to roster lock...Engvall called up by the Leafs with Moore going on IR. I had another hole in my lineup with Okposo going on IR.

How bad is it getting for the Devils...Schneider on waivers?
