Glass never getting the shot. Hopefully adds a chip to the shoulder.

Bob Mckenzie said there are too many C's and he can't play the wing.

Man.. Some stupid cuts for team Canada. We'll be lucky to win bronze this year (hope I'm wrong).

This is a pretty bad roster. I suspect a 5th place finish.

The coach made a pretty good point when asked about the roster though, you pick a roster based on the best player today not the best player in 4 or 5 years which is what NHL teams are interested in when they draft players. Makes sense to take lower ceiling guys if they are stronger players now to the tournament even if it means excluding players we all like for their long term potential.

Yes but he cut players that are also better right now too. I i don't remember which year exactly, but they did this crap a few years back when they took a bunch of "bottom 6" types and it failed badly.

I like Sweden's roster this year, especially if they get A.Nylander

In my other (SIM) league I have Norris, Frederick, Luostarinen, Axel-Jonson Fjallby, Adam Fox and Jacob Moverare all competing for spots (have not reviewed the final rosters yet).

Here is my take on the top 4:

Sweden probably has the best team on paper (great offensive and two-way depth) being led by Elias Pettersson tabbed as the best player entering the tournament (at least IMO), Dahlin and Lilly on the back-end and Gustavsson in net.

Finland is a very strong contender as well, but if Kuokkannen is out that brings them down a touch - even with Tolvanen up front to bring that elite offensive touch. Their depth offensively isn't all that great up front but their d-core might be the best in the tournament. Not sold on their goaltending yet though. Was very bad last year, maybe UPL will change that, but this is his first WJC so you never know.

USA, well they are going to be tough to beat as long as their goaltending gets sorted out as none of Woll or Oettinger have been stellar this year. The offensive will likely run through Middelstadt and Yamamoto with Brown picking up gimme assists to inflate his point totals. The rest of the roster will try and hold the lead by playing grindy two-way hockey with the occasional snipe from Bellows. Tough team to play against.

CAN may be a darkhorse here. They may not have taken all the players with pure talent, but I like the makeup of the roster. On paper, yesterday's practice lines look like money. Formenton/Howden/Comtois will be fun to watch, Steel with Dube and Kyrou should be a handful for most teams and lines 2/3 are well-balanced with solid scoring touch in Raddysh and Steenbergen. The d-core is where the team will really show if they are elite or not. Last year I found the d-core struggled to help out the goalies, especially after Myers went down. Lots of offensive potential on the back-end, but can they also defend? Luckily they have arguably the hottest goalie(s) coming into the tournament in Hart and Point to bail the team out. It's actually an odd WJC for Canada as their best player might be their goalie (Hart) for the first time in what feels like forever (Justin Pogge maybe?).

Anyways, the WJC is definitely the most wonderful time of the year for hockey fans, and it should be another great year!!! Go Canada Go!

BBKL Sabres in the WJC

Josh Norris
Joey Anderson
Ryan Lindgren
Markus Nurmi
Ondrej Vala
Artyom Minulin

Drafted and traded away

Jordan Kyrou
Eemeli Rasanen
Kasper Kotkansalo
Dimitri Sokolov
Urho Vaakanainen

Would have had a big crop this year if I didn't trade away some prospects.
