What brought about this rule change? What is the purpose?CC has also discussed and voted in the following:
850 Skater Games Played (to end of BBKL regular season) (to take place of 1100 including playoffs)
70 maximum, 35 minimum, Goalie Game STARTS (to end of BBKL regular season) (to take place of 82, 41 rule)
Will begin next season (2017/18)
I see the 1100 GP as keeping bottom teams more engaged for longer into the NHL regular season.
Re: Announcement thread discussion
I'm very pro regular season only. Bottom teams slacking all season long to stay low and then stacking GP to meet the mark when their low position is already set and they have no more matchups makes 0 sense to me.Lee wroteCOLONWhat brought about this rule change? Re: Announcement thread discussion
It made sense to have rules geared towards our actual regular season. The goalie rule was proposed first and the skater GP was a spinoff idea.
Re: Announcement thread discussion
Okay, both makes sense. Thanks for explaining.
Re: Announcement thread discussion
Yes. both rules (and penalties for breaking them) affect regular season only, so it makes sense that the numbers only use regular season stats.
Re: Announcement thread discussion
How will this be trackable? Won't fantrax continue to track GP until the end of the NHL schedule?
Re: Announcement thread discussion
Fantrax allows you to track stats for whichever period(s) you want.Lee wroteCOLONHow will this be trackable? Won't fantrax continue to track GP until the end of the NHL schedule?
I just did it, and all teams reached the 850 minimum this season. (Anaheim barely at 856, lol)
Montreal-78 and Detroit-72 would have exceeded 70 goalie starts. Everyone hit 35 minimum.

Re: Announcement thread discussion
I like the change too, well done guys- good to see the CC tidying up existing rules.
Re: Announcement thread discussion
Seems like it makes it easier to make GP. Carolina is still 70 GP away in our current format.
Re: Announcement thread discussion
Good move guys should help ensure continued goaltender distribution
Re: Announcement thread discussion

Re: Announcement thread discussion
1100 for a full season...around 870 for 21 weeks. We rounded down to 850.

As of Mar 5 NHL standings (last day of our regular season) the NHL had played 967 games (78.6%) of it's scheduled games.
http://dropyourgloves.com/Games/AnyDate ... 5&League=1
78.6% of 1100 is 864.6.
We rounded it down to a nice even 850.
Re: Announcement thread discussion
850 seems like a really low number.

Punishments will be stiff for those who can't hit the minimum.
