SJ-STL
Re: SJ-STL
Was prepared to hear it a little bit. Every deal I make no one seems to like it for me except for me and I always turn out okay. I like Raffl a lot actually. Also a big believer in Fasching and Dauphin (not 100% sold on Dauphin, but I've seen enough to believe in him). Really have a gut feeling Jenys is going to work out in some form for me. And lotto tickets on Jevpalovs and Rehill (though I'd like to think the odds of me being right are higher than looking from the outside). Also I consider myself to be decently lucky/skilled in the draft when it comes to picks, so those 2 at least gives me a shot at something rather than no picks til the 5th round.
The other offers I got didn't come close to this, in terms of quality or quantity, I didn't feel that I was going to get anything worth making a deal for, in this deal that I considered essential for this team and where I want it to go.

Re: SJ-STL
The pick/prospect boner everyone gets at draft time is fantastic. All of a sudden a bunch of guys years away from making the NHL are worth more than young guys playing in the NHL right now.

how is it a bold move?Shoalzie wroteCOLON It's a bold move for the Sharks.
Re: SJ-STL
My only real issue of the deal is not getting any of AA Bertuzzi Merkely Bear in the deal

Re: SJ-STL
I like this for me because now sjs is less likely to be in the battle for a bottom 5 pick next year.

This is a solid return, imo. So many rebuilders means the demand is low for stars and supply is high, while demand for prospects is high and supply is low.
I'd say the price for stars right now is 2 pretty good prospects. Maybe that will change in a year or two when there aren't 15 rebuilding teams...

^aka not the time to trade stars?
Re: SJ-STL
If you're wanting to rebuild then you gotta cut your losses or wait a few years to rebuild. I'm sure I won't get what I want at all for subban or Steen. And koomzzz won't get what he wants for krejci and arian won't get what he wants for seguin. Meh.

Re: SJ-STL
top teams are forced to deal some star players at an unfortunate point in time because of the cap, rebuilders shouldn't force themselves in the same bad spot without a reason.
Re: SJ-STL
Like I said, everyone is hard over picks and prospects right now. Now is not the time to trade NHL players. Wait until after the draft inching closer to the season when people need to fill out their rosters.
Re: SJ-STL
WSH has lots of cap ... and pieces to move. Prospects. Picks. studs.

Re: SJ-STL
He inherited a roster that barely had enough bodies to fill out an NHL roster, no prospects, and no picks. Honestly, where did people think he was going to go? lol!Lee wroteCOLONLike I said, everyone is hard over picks and prospects right now. Now is not the time to trade NHL players. Re: SJ-STL
I made a better offer with 8 actual NHLers in it ;o
Re: SJ-STL
Most of those guys will be in the AHL or playing overseas sooner rather than later. I'd take Josh's offer over that.Lee wroteCOLONI made a better offer with 8 actual NHLers in it ;o

Re: SJ-STL
You keep saying that with no proof. They are all legitimate NHLers, with the exception of Vey, who has produced recently in the NHL.
