General Hockey Talk/Vids
Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
We played like absolute shit tonite.
Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
I want lebda in the press box. Horrible give aways and piss poor play defensively, don't think I saw him win a single battle. Versteeg just trying too hard it seems and can't buy a break, he really needs to get a few bounces. Grabo played well and I loved schenn tonight, but a lot of the rest of the players disappeared for almost all 60 minutes. We didn't win those forecheck battles, and the battles in our own zone, if not for gusty the score could of been 5-1.Kezia wroteCOLONWe played like absolute shit tonite.

They dominated the Caps, but to be fair, the Caps aren't the same team without Green. Their transistion from blueline to blueline was awful the last two games, part of that is the bruins D, another part of it is the subtraction of Green.mr. bruin wroteCOLONBruins fucking look amazing...all i got to say. ...and dont remind me about Thomas...I got Vokouned last week too, remember?

Shot of the Jobing.com Arena in Phoenix for the Kings Coyotes game.
Also it was friends and family night.. ouch.
Can we get this team back to the peg'?

Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
Well to be fair, with the amount of $ it costs to move a team, and the risk of being a "flip-flop" organization it's a much better idea to try and make it work then it is to move at the first sign of trouble.
However after years of failing to draw in a reasonable crowd it is time to relocate. Peg would be awesome.

Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
I really wanna see a team in Quebeq, the fans there are extremely passionate, and it would set up another big rival for the Leafs, and Canadiens.
Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
No industry support = no team... the Q government should not be allowed to fund a team, i know every westerner would be up and arms.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONI really wanna see a team in Quebeq, the fans there are extremely passionate, and it would set up another big rival for the Leafs, and Canadiens.
Peg has the industry support for a team... and a nice building... and would make a nice story for Doan to return...talk about an easy choice for jersey retirement.

Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
I'm sure a market like Quebeq could up with the neccasarry support should relocation occur, on top of that, they have a great fan base and grass roots hockey movements.facey wroteCOLONNo industry support = no team... the Q government should not be allowed to fund a team, i know every westerner would be up and arms.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONI really wanna see a team in Quebeq, the fans there are extremely passionate, and it would set up another big rival for the Leafs, and Canadiens.

Winnipeg by contrast is a small market, and was unable to draw strong attendance the first time around, what has changed since then?
Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
The Jets failed because they didn't have a Stadium, a brutally weak canadian dollar, plus a down economy across all of Canada at the time, particularly weak on flat lands. Currently Peg is a solid economy, with a new stadium, and an open market in terms of sports teams worth following.
Remember that the Jets and Nordiques were both holdovers when the World Hockey Association folded, well established in their cities when they were integrated into the NHL together and debuted for the 1979-80 season.

There are ZERO mutli-nationals in quebec city, it is not an industry city, it is like victoria in BC, a government town. Quebec City I believe is actually smaller then Peg and is already an occupied hockey zone. The reasons for the Nordiques' failure to remain in Quebec City were summed up by team president Marcel Aubut during the press conference announcing the club's move to Denver. "The new realities of the hockey industry, the size of the Quebec City market and the absence of adequate government help sounded the knell of the Nordiques," said Aubut. Quebec's group of owners sold the team to Denver for $103 million (US).
Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
To be fair Peg would still be a weak economic team. Hamilton under RIM would have made economic sense.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONHmm, didn't know that. Argument retracted.

Billionaire Eugene Melnyk says hello... and a beautiful rink.... and a bigger population, however no where near the fan-base they expected.
Also: General Dynamics Canada, Alcatel-Lucent Canada,CSC ... all $100 000 000 + profit IT companies with head-quaters in Ottawa, alas its not Toronto or Calgary, or any of the American cities, but its a good sign to fill the expensive boxes. I think being a nations capital has its advantages over just a provincial capital... but also being in southern ontario.

Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
Theres a lot of chatter of Atlanta going to Quebec City. Phoenix I'd love to see back in the Peg' but I don't see that one being as likely to be honest. Or at least not any time soon. I think we'll see another team in Canada in the next 10 years though.
Re: General Hockey Talk/Vids
There should be a 2nd team in the Toronto/GTA area.

MLSE would never allow it. Buffalo would never allow it.bcool wroteCOLONThere should be a 2nd team in the Toronto/GTA area.
