In all honestly there were pieces of that deal I wasn't too crazy about so but yeah lolKapG wroteCOLONMe disliking the deal has nothing to do with mike landing him.
Has to do with the return. I wasn't a fan of mikes offer from the start.
Why didn't u take Mathews deal? I know why .....it was fake and all a ploy to get people to try and up their offers

Would be funny if mcdavid busted and was like a 35 point guy with a bad back after reading this thread.

Re: DAL-TOR
I've never wished for someone to bust as much as this kid. Fuck EDM.
Re: DAL-TOR
I feel the same way. Only way my mind would change is if the entire front office of EDM was gutted before making the actual selection and see what a system and personnel change would do.Tony wroteCOLONI've never wished for someone to bust as much as this kid. Fuck EDM.

Meh , I can't say much. I once traded the pick that became RNH for Olesz and Ollie Jokinen

i liked the deal until he traded away Yak
Re: DAL-TOR
Even though I'm not a fan, I have seen worse lol. Shit, I've probably made worse trades!
Re: DAL-TOR
Pretty unfair to say no stars in this group.
First off those 1st rounders are of a wide potential outcome. Picks like Perry, Kopitar, Bergeron all come from non-top 5 spots. 2ndly, Ho-Sang could easily be a top line player, Krug is an elite offensive d-man, and the other guys are all worthwhile bbklers. You won't win here with 2-3 pieces. It takes a team of contributing guys to contend (remember, I had Stamkos, G & Sid, with Weber, and was twice a first round exit).2015 1st Rounder (CGY)

Re: DAL-TOR
The idea of moving the pick made sense in that one player wouldn't help him as much it would to get multiple assets. He took over a gutted roster. He's got some good young players but next to nothing in terms of NHL veterans. To just add McDavid to that lineup isn't going to make a big difference to his team. He's got multiple attractive pieces that might not have McDavid's potential but as a collective group could pay off.
The unfortunate thing for him is that he wasn't going to be able to take advantage of having a player like him on his roster considering he had very little around him. If he wants to continue to build and progress, you need more than just one guy. I might have a situation down the road where I may have to move a guy like Ekblad because getting multiple pieces helps me more than just keeping the one player.
Every GM at the bottom of the league will run into the dilemma of do I keep my franchise player or does it help me more if I move them for assets that will make me a better team overall. It really all depends on how patient you are and if you've got a good pipeline of talent. In Dallas' case, he needs 10 assets more than he needs one.

Re: DAL-TOR
What's the most a single asset has ever gone for in the BBKL? Has Sid Crosby ever been traded for more?
Re: DAL-TOR
Quality > quantity mike!!
It was really krug and yak and a bunch of Meh firsts. Value wise, I have to think that there have been a bunch of trades made over the years that would top this.
No I'm not going to go look up any .

I've seen lots of examples in fantasy leagues of GMs giving up a lot for star players and ending up with a top heavy roster with 4-6 elite pieces surrounded by a bunch of below average players. It's not a recipe for success and it's the teams with a roster full of good contributing players that usually have success.
I wouldn't have traded Yak though
