do our current draft eligibility rules leave something uncovered?
and as we have been reminded by this year events, the others are going to remain free agents only until January 1st, iircEligibility
Automatically eligible for the 2014 Waiver draft are ALL bbkl-free players who were:
- born before january 1st 1995, if they played a season in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old
- born before january 1st 1994, if they never played in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old
Additionally, bbkl-free players already signed to a NHL contract are eligible as well, even if born later than that.
Notes
...
- After the Waiver draft, the unowned NHL-signed players will become available as free agents; however, after rosters submission, those still eligible for the 2015 Entry draft will join the pool of players reserved for it.
Re: The "It's time to get a CBA done" Thread - Input Require
Sorry if I'm missing something here. But when can these eligible players be signed post waiver draft? When is the cut off for everyone to be lumped back into the waiver draft pool for the following year?

Re: The "It's time to get a CBA done" Thread - Input Require
Ok sorry Jan 1st. That was my question. Alright yea I think that's a good date to set in stone

Re: The "It's time to get a CBA done" Thread - Input Require
about this, I think this year retarded situation showed 1 single round for the Waiver Draft is not enough. There were well more than 30 interesting players available and we ended up having a lot of first come first signings as soon as the draft expired.Matthew wroteCOLONNext topic: when do people believe the official cutoff date for signing waiver draft eligible (europeans and college) players should be, an when after the waiver draft should the leftovers be available to be signed?
don't have time now to look for that thread, but it was stupid.
IMO the non playoff teams should have a 2nd waiver pick to make as well, or the bottom 5 teams at the very least.
It would reduce the 1st come 1st gong show along with providing some additional help to bottom teams.
Darlling is just an example of the players that could have been drafted with those additional picks.
Re: The "It's time to get a CBA done" Thread - Input Require
Its a good idea. I would err on all non-playoff teams getting an additional waiver selection. Just for solidarities sake of the category.
I see you edited. Agreed.

3rd Friday in September better?kyuss wroteCOLONkeep in mind free people often means people away from their computer..Matthew wroteCOLONI agree with this for both the Entry and Waiver draft, as more people will be free on a Saturday than on the weekdays.Fraser wroteCOLONIf we are setting consistent days for the drafts I would be more in support of the "1st Saturday in June/September" approach rather than the locked in numerical date.Lee wroteCOLONSetting a consistent draft day , such as June 1st, should also be discussed. Re: The "It's time to get a CBA done" Thread - Input Require
Opinion, sure, I'll give you that. Bias and favourtism? No.so the NHL with their bunch of lawyers does have places where opinion is a key part of their decisions, but we in BBKL should not? This league has no place in it's official decision for bias, favoritism and opinion.![]()
Aboslutely. And they should have seen that I was running an NHL caliber goaltender, saw that I had already met GP and went on their merry way.which confirms CC would have been right in looking into your lineupLee wroteCOLONThe ability to make my lineup worse is something I should absolutely have. I've never denied that dressing Khudo over Ward was an attempt to lose.
The NHL changed the lottery process for this year and they are changing it again next year.lol whatLee wroteCOLON NHL teams tank. That was blatantly obvious this year, yet they are not fined or reprimanded. Instead, a new rule is created to give all non playoff teams a more even chance to win the lottery.
Re: The "It's time to get a CBA done" Thread - Input Require
It would allow teams to be able to dress one NHL goaltender, as you did.kyuss wroteCOLONthis would be useless.Lee wroteCOLONI really don't feel like typing that all up again.
Short form:
We should be able to dress a compliant roster, regardless of any perceived motive.
If you can prove than an NHL goalie is active, you should be able to dress him in a single goalie situation.
If a change is to be made, I propose it be made to the minimum amount of GP required.
it wouldn't prevent blatant tanking, so what purpose would this 'rule' accomplish other than make you happy?
Re: The "It's time to get a CBA done" Thread - Input Require
I don't get why you don't have to play by the same rules as everyone else. Or why I can't. I was dressing an active NHL goaltender, just as you were doing.kyuss wroteCOLONthx for proving the point: it leaves window open for blatant tankingLee wroteCOLON
What window does it leave open? It clearly states that if you can prove that they are an active NHL goalie, you can dress them in a single goalie situation.

Lee still whining about goalies I see, lol.
You purposefully dressed a goalie who wouldn't play so that you could lose all goalie stats (talking bout last season more so then this)
Pretty simple.

I am fine with going with a 2 round Waiver Draft.
We've always had Jan 1st as the cutoff, but I don't believe it was ever recorded and moreso a rule that a lot of us remembered. We had a large turnaround in GM's in 2014 so I believe it was just missed this year. We will have to put it in writing.
I understand where Lee is coming from with this. Sure, Khudobin could get 0 starts and thus he tanks all goalie stats. But he could also post a 1.00 GAA and a .967 SV% and win half the goalie stats in 1 start. Or hell, even post a shutout likely netting him 3 of 4 goalie stats. I don't agree with the process but I don't necessarily think is wrong. It's not like he was out there starting Justin Peters or Philipp Grubauer as his only goalie each week, the backup(s) to the goalie that started the most games in the NHL. I don't agree with it, but I don't think it's necessarily wrong.
We could implement a fine if you miss all goalie starts in a week or something? So you can risk Khudobin getting lit up and costing you all stats, but if he plays 0 you're fined something. Just a suggestion, not sure if I even like it.

Why did you bench Ward though? That's the issue and has nothing to do with Khudobin playing. Fraser's suggestion works well since in Mik's case it was obvious he was trying to win and not tank. In Lee's case it is near impossible to argue that benching Ward wasn't done in an attempt to lose.
I also am on Lee's side that it was smart and the correct roster move at the time since there was no rule against it. Now there is so move on, but we aren't for some reason.

Yes, I benched him. I met the requirements on the season. Change GGP if you are going to change anything. I shouldn't be punished for doing what is best for my team within the confines of the rules.
