For existing contracts, I still look at the ghost of CapGeek. All that stuff is still there with that archive link. Spotrac will report the new deals pretty much right away but they're not as quick at getting the salary figures.

Did they finally fess to Dougie Hamilton's busted ribs after Olynyk spilled the beans?

I really wonder if the Bruins get in the playoffs if Hamilton didn't get hurt.

So apparently the NWHL is now a thing.

I'd fully support an actual legitimate competitive league for women's hockey. None of this XFL bra and panty bullshit.

If the salaries are good enough to actually draw the top players (CAN and US national team players) it would be really good for the sport, but I doubt they're making that kind of investment.

For the most part those girls all did at 4 year degrees at a minimum and probably make much more money in various fields than a second rate league can offer.

Women's hockey is decent (pretty much only when Canada-USA play) but do they have enough talent to have a league larger than a half dozen teams? Women's soccer has struggled to get footing in the North America with the success of the US women's program. Then again, I don't think MLS is supporting the women's league. The NHL is a stronger product than the MLS. The WNBA has done alright...relatively speaking.

Darren Dreger on Leafs Lunch
The Detroit Red Wings offered Brendan Smith, Stephen Weiss and Teemu Pulkkinen for Dion Phaneuf at the deadline. Nonis rejected the offer because he wanted a better prospect. There is belief that the leafs (without Nonis) will revisit this when Det is eliminated from the playoffs.

Hagman (8-9th forward), White (4-5D with +++ attitude), Stajan (3rd lineC), Mayers (4th line plug)

for

DP, Sjostrom (4th line PK forward), Aulie ( B-/C+ level prospect in NHL terms)

i'm a little lost to where you are going with this?

white isn't very good and coudln't even hold down an NHL job, hagman played like 1 more year after the deal. Stajan is a 3C and the only player left in the deal in the NHL.

Weiss is as good as Stajan, Smith is better than anything else in the deal and Pulk has some really nice offensive upside. A lot of scouts think he has 30G potiential.

i sadly went on to HF to read about this after Dreger talked about it (because everything gets posted there) and a lot of Det fans would rather give up Jurco + their 1st instead of Pulk
