If he still wants to step down so be it, we will give him time to think about that, no need to accept or force a decision. But I value what he does, and I hope others do as well, and will give him this same leeway. His team is setup for the season and can auto-pilot while he decides.
The admin spot should not be at the expense of Mike's spot, with reason for one gap, he's been a very good admin. Matt stepped up big, and together they form an amazing duo to keep the league spinning like a top.
Scott over-stepped his bounds big-time in the last few days... I cannot find anything aside from a position eligibility issue , then WHAMMY, unannounced, big changes that made way way way more issues then they fixed, that he should not have the power to do.
and just to rehash a few other points to clearly show that we're not in bad shape:
I think people are missing how the CC will function; we've had the CC managed this way in the past, and it ran smoothly.
Here is my suggestions to help us prepare for the start or the season and survive these dark times.
2 Admin's who ANYONE can talk to and send potential issues to
-anything with merit will get passed onto the CC
-league will be notified in general discussion the conversation on the topic is underway
-admin's do not get to weigh in on the topic
->->-> I'd suggest Mike & Matt for this issue, I believe they are both truly nice guys, easy to bring up potential issues to, neither is a competitively- edgy as most in the BBKL, and they handle lots of the setup/site/stuff
Return to 4-5 veteran CC members
-not just quick vote, but proper discussion can take place this way
-they are encouraged to list potential issues and concerns with the topic, and work together towards well rounded rules instead of the current polarization and my-way-or-the-highway style, instead of forcing vote to one members view, they combine ideas and negotiate fair rulings, in-place of a vote system in all cases, perhaps they are encouraged to reach consensus.
-no premature or rushed decisions, solid logical decisions will be the focus
-operate under the mandate which Kyuss nicely laid out (quoted below)
->->-> I've witnessed our best results with Kyle, Neel (though Shiv could step in here if Neel is busy), Billy and myself (Facey), though I'm open to adding a less-contending team (such as Tony/Shoalzie/Kyuss), and if preferred Shooker in place of me (if some change of personal is wanted).
Scott continues to aide and support the day-to-day running of the league, supporting Mike and Matt as well as tackling the CBS stuff. There is no denying Scott has done lots for the BBKL.
Kareem returns to mod duties focusing on the trade thread and I'd suggest the waiver-wire police.kyuss wroteCOLONsupposing everyone is prepared to put personal issues away to be able to move on and make things work, i'll try to add my personal opinion. Sorry for this being longer than i wanted.
we had never ending arguments (wasting time, creating anger and so on), people were taking sides against each other, the CC was delivering only partial resolutions that were soon contradicted by its own members..basically taking away its legitimacy..
We need consistent leadership, i.e. a CC made of few guys that:
- deserve to be in the spot: have put effort in the league, have good credibility, have a level-head and think league-first
- are not supposed to be substituted, unless necessary (no more time, availability); hence no rotation scheduled. This means stability in direction, leadership and quality/experience of the personnel.
- release clear, specific and unique resolutions only after having voted/agreed on them.
The second thing that needs to change, perhaps even more importnat, is the attitude of the participants.
Discussing suggestions is one thing, trying to create sides and bend/break the league is another one.
Anyone who stays in the league (hopefully everyone) needs to recognize the leadership that will be chosen and have faith in it; it doesn't mean not being able to express opinions and suggestions anymore, it means leaving them at reasoned opinions.
The third thing is always keeping in mind two basic principles when discussing league matters
- rule changes that affect previous strategies need to be minimized and implemented only after a fair (wide) period of notice.
- the less subjectivity is involved in the application of the rules, the better.
Shep, Tony, & Shiv return to making kick ass banner on a semi-regular basis.
Lets keep trucking along guys, this normally kicks ass and once past this hiccup it will again.
