I know of that thread...I just wasn't sure if we had a different way of doing this for roster deadline day.

I made those threads specifically for the season start and the regular season.

Can I please get some clarification on who I can and cannot claim?

For example, I picked a guy off waivers who was born July 12th, 1990, making him 20 years old and passed over in 2 drafts.

I am not 100% sure but i think you are good. One thing that gets confusing is the terminology being used. There is no waivers in the offseason. Everyone not owned is a Free Agent. You pickup or sign FA's. When a player is on "waivers" he is available for 24 hours for the rest of the league to place a "claim" on this player. If you are successful, you become the owner of that players contract. Everyone else that is available in the FA pool is free for signing. But in regards to your original question Kezia there are some restrictions on the younger players and draft eligibility. I am not the person person to answer that specific question.

So if an 18 year old kid went undrafted this year, I could pick him up?

there is a period for signing un-drafted players right after the draft... ends a week before the start of camps I believe.

month does not matter when referring to a players age in the nhl.

whether he's north american or not does matter.

Has to have played in the CHL last year. Nationality doesn't matter, but where they played does.

I though Junior-A, USHL, and maybe NCAA counted as well ??

So, we're past noon...when does the waiver process start for those who have to clear waivers?
