The risk is obviously there that this blows up in my face but that probably won't be known for a little while. Dumba has intriguing upside obviously and I really considered hanging onto him and maybe trying to move Klefbom instead...we'll see how that works out.

My (only) organizational strength was young defensemen heading to the offseason and I've wanted to make lateral swaps where I improve my forward depth and it allows to be more open-minded with what I do with my numerous draft picks in the first 3 rounds. I won't go strictly from the position of "take the best available forward"...I want to take the "best available player".

At this point, I've flipped 3 defensemen for 3 forwards and added/upgraded some picks. I'm probably done moving players until we get to the draft.

I think Rattie and McNeill will both be NHLers and Rattie led his AHL team in goals in his rookie year. Dumba also has seen his stock drop since his draft and was underwhelming at the WJs. Still like it for Thom, but if Scott wanted to swap D for F I think he did fine.

fwiw, rattie also started the year slow and really had a good second half.

still think dumba holds more value than anything that went back to Shoalzie. *shrug*

Small bookkeeping mistake on our part...the trade has been modified. I'll receive the 2015 4th Rounder (MON) instead of the 2014 5th Rounder (WAS). Ottawa owns that 5th round pick.
