Semin can definitely dangle.
Here's the most skilled Swede ever to lace them up. Amazing in every aspect of the game! This video might be the best overall tribute video for an athlete on yt.. a little long, but enjoy!

Trunev has mad skills, but even he can't match Semin. I can't think of a player in recent memory who could.facey wroteCOLONsame difference.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONIt's stupid how much skill Trunev has, it really is.

Thats a good comparison Neel, can't believe I forgot Kovy...For me I'd still take Semin, because he's a faster skater, has a quicker release and can shoot from tougher angles, but on the flip side Kovy is bigger, and has a far more powerful wrist shot.inferno31 wroteCOLONKovalev > Semin in terms of skill.
Re: YouTube - Hockey Only
Kovalev had the size and his shot was insane. He could do whatever he wanted to do on the Ice when he wanted to. Honestly most of the greats even agree, no ones seen anyone who oozes that much skill. He'd make you look plain silly quite regularly in his prime.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONThats a good comparison Neel, can't believe I forgot Kovy...For me I'd still take Semin, because he's a faster skater, has a quicker release and can shoot from tougher angles, but on the flip side Kovy is bigger, and has a far more powerful wrist shot.inferno31 wroteCOLONKovalev > Semin in terms of skill.

Remember that Pittsburgh powerplay? 5 forwards! Talk about insanely sick.. I think everyone had 90+ points that year lol
Lang - Lemieux - Jagr
Straka - Kovalev

Re: YouTube - Hockey Only
i dunno how the same people who like Foppa like Semin at all.. Peter left it all out there, 110% every shift, played to win, played over the line when it suited him, played hurt, etc... and yes he had hands and a beauty shot... lots of players do, but its an understanding of the games that leads to the best players, not just nice hands.
Kovalev = one of the most over-rated and over-valued NHLers of all time IMO. Semin works harder and is a more complete player then Kovalev ever was.... Ray Ferraro & Barnaby are the guys who calls him the most skilled, and people act as if its was Wayne or Mario (who say each other btw)
One of my personal favourite PLAYER is/was the Big E
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj7_9yBv ... re=related[/youtube]
Despite all of his off-ice bullshit (every reason to hate the guy), I've never seen another player dominate every facet of the game like him, and he played with heart... off the ice a retarded dad and pumped up ego from a young age had severe negative effects on his career, he should be used as an example to the value of humility to all up and coming hockey players. Different era of hockey, different draft situations and I honestly wonder what could have been.
But Injury/durability/effort/heart is all part of hockey -> part of what make sports great and important, and he fell short in this regard.

Over 17 Seasons, Kovalev's top 3 point scoring seasons are: 95, 84, 76
Over 5 Seasons, Semin's top 3 point scoring seasons are: 84, 79, 73
Over 17 Seasons, Kovalev's top 3 goal scoring seasons are: 44, 35, 32
Over 5 Seasons, Semin's top 3 goal scoring seasons are: 40, 38, 34
Now why would you take Kovalev over Semin?
Kovalev is the definition of wasted talent. Semin at least get things done.

As for the big E, he was EASILY the most complete forward of all time.
Re: YouTube - Hockey Only
I did make a very poor point there.
What I meant, was how someone who has Foppa as their fav all time, currently has Semin as one of their current favourites. As to like Peter that much IMO means you valued and enjoyed how hard he worked, which seems to be a major issue for Alex.
But no doubt that people have favourites that don't make sense, for w/e reason I've always like Nathan Horton, and effort/consistency is lacking in him, which i typically hate.
This guy is impossible not to love, if he was a slightly better skater and more durable he'd be considered a great, but as it stands his style of play severely impacted his ability to play the game, limiting him to one of the biggest fan favourites of all time. Its like trying to not like Stevie Y, early in his career he had the soft/choke title and man did he prove EVERYONE wrong. In the regard IMO he highlighted how hockey is a team game and it takes many positive things coming together (perfect storm) all at once to win it all, and IMO thats why the wings continue to kick ass, it starts at the top of the organization and trickles down. /ot rant

What I was trying to say in regards to the big E is that he was essentially the perfect player, he had everything. But on the ice, Forsberg (IMO) demonstrated it better than anyone else, and part of that has to do with Lindros concussions that prevented him from reaching his full potential.Starpainter wroteCOLONFirst on Forsberg:
