For what it's worth I think Bjorkstrand will be good and it doesn't matter if it was an overage season considering how good he looked at the world juniors and in the NHL preseason. Of course I like the trade for me or I wouldn't do it, but unlike Nelson or Bonino offers he took back no salary. It also could be a trade that looks really bad if Mik hits on 2 or 3 picks but that will be years in the future and I'm concerned with present.

Also if you look at what Mik paid to get him I think he got him cheaper then I did.

1 - you didn't. You offered Bonino + 2nd DET 2017. There are 4 more picks here.
2 - Bonino is a 3rd liner, Bjorkstrand could be more than that (and I can wait for him, as I have other players ready to replace Pleks)
3 - Bjorkstrand will be waiver exempt for a while and has an even better contract
4 - Plekanec to a strong Eastern team for me is better than Plekanec to a strong team in my division

Hope you get it now.
This is really bad logic. It's so bad, I have to give away competitive knowledge to prevent stupidness like this from happening again.-- referring to your points about us being division opponents.

1) You trading Plekanec for this made you comparatively way weaker than us swapping Bonino for Plekanec or you trading Plekanec for a guy like Nelson
2) Bonino is 1.9m for 2 more years, you would have dumped 3m in cap on me for 20 points and 200 FOW. That could have been turned into a competitive advantage.
3) You not trading me Plekanec, allowed me to upgrade my wingers to get Iginla for Clifford. Bonino + Iginla is a far harder competitor to face than Plekanec + Clifford
4) Plekanec was a UFA and would likely get 6-7m while turning 34...that is an awesome problem to dump on your competitor.

If I was you, I'd have taken Nelson or countered mine/nick's offer. This is a horrendous move.

Worst part...I recall a night when Chuck posted a deal that was 2 1sts and 2 2nds but was taken down. I assume you got greedy. Hilarious to see the situation you cornered yourself into by slowly burning bridges.

That being said, I'm happy a new contender is emerging in the east. Matt's team could upset Mike so thanks for that help.

Mik's team is still beast. But I prefer this trade cuz he only got picks/prospects back for a key roster contributer...and i own his 2016 first! :P

Burn it down! I think Mik preferred waiver exempt(WE) players bc he already is replacing Plek with Kuzy so he wanted to keep his stock of WE players strong.......It's how Mike and Mik continue to have strong teams. They stock up on picks and WE players and then sell them off their none WE players when their new young guns won't clear waivers anymore bc people will pay for them with with prospects and picks.... just my 2 cents tho

as usual you only reason in terms of present time.. speaking of which, I won't replace Plekanec with Bjorkstrand but with Kuznetsov.
So, even if in terms of present time the possibility of Bjorkstrand becoming a better player than Bonino and Nelson (something that seems reasonable to me) at a cheaper contract doesn't matter, I'd rather have Kuznetsov than Bonino or Nelson.

Probably, a key difference here is when running a team I don't give myself the option of quitting and starting again with a brand new team after making mine hopeless.
2) Bonino is 1.9m for 2 more years, you would have dumped 3m in cap on me for 20 points and 200 FOW. That could have been turned into a competitive advantage.
I would have dumped to one of my main competitors a #1C for his 3rd line C.
3) You not trading me Plekanec, allowed me to upgrade my wingers to get Iginla for Clifford. Bonino + Iginla is a far harder competitor to face than Plekanec + Clifford
in case you missed it, it's the other way around: you trading for Iginla was what allowed Bruyns to get Plekanec.
Oh, and I rather face Bonino + Iginla than Plekanec + Clifford today, let alone tomorrow.... Iginla is a 38yrs old with hip problems, he is close to be done and his market value should approach zero pretty soon.
4) Plekanec was a UFA and would likely get 6-7m while turning 34...that is an awesome problem to dump on your competitor.
sure, anyone owning a great BBKL piece at 6M has a huge problem in his hands
If I was you, I'd have taken Nelson or countered mine/nick's offer. This is a horrendous move.
this is an encouraging assessment, as I seem to remember that the deals of mine you liked the least in the past turned out to be good for me.

Oh, and obviously I countered... your reaction was offering less than before and going public instigating other GMs not to offer anything until the last minute (while, of course, keeping on trying to get Plekanec for yourself in the meantime, at an even lower price).
The predictable result is you crying about the lost opportunity.

We have been negotiating deals for yrs, but it looks like you have yet to figure out how it works with me. Next time you want a player of mine, the first thing you need to do is actually paying attention to what I tell you, the second one is not behaving like an arrogant asshole.
You know, pretty basic stuff, yet you don't get how you didn't land the player, somehow.
Worst part...I recall a night when Chuck posted a deal that was 2 1sts and 2 2nds but was taken down. I assume you got greedy.
not sure if you're lying or you simply don't know what you're talking about.
Chuck agreed on a deal, then he let me know he actually didn't have a 1st round he offered.
His only attempt to get the deal done after that was replacing that 1st with a 2nd (full round lower).
I'll not be guessing about the reasons here.
Hilarious to see the situation you cornered yourself into by slowly burning bridges.
you didn't look too amused by the situation, tbh :)

anyway, I actually take pride in running a much better franchise than yours despite missing all your bridges!
