Jake is nice no doubt... but this is like saying Aulie made the Phaneuf trade for you -> LOL. The proven NHLer who fits our organizational needs and is still young himself is > a reasonable prospect.

Gardiner is more than a "reasonable prospect", I have been after him in this league forever (just ask Ryan), elite skating ability, good size, strong offensive vision and shot, and defensive ability to boot. He has top pairing potential, I definitely view him as the prime piece in this deal, and all reports indicate that he was in fact the main piece of the deal. If he makes it (as an NHLer), I think he'll be a top four defenceman because of his skating ability and his first pass.
