hong57 wroteCOLONpeaking early isn't the problem here.. im comfortable with a team at 30s as im pretty sure their experience will out perform those who peak at 25.. but the real problem is... they get their luxury long term contract at that age.. and once the player decline (even the slightest decline) will make the player not movable.. im comfortable JT getting 10mil im sure he's top 10 players for another 5-6 years.. but these contracts...
so realistic question is.. would you prefer players at 25 (which is well.. their peak) at 5mil or player at 30 (which is considered too old) at 7-8 mil?
the answer would be pretty obvious and hence the shift of the league in valuing the players
simply put though.. players at ELC to their next contract are the most valuable and attractive to any team
All that is spot on. I also think the cap being flat lately has help devalue older players as well too

I don't think it's a coincidence that all the championship teams of late don't have big contracts on them. I had 5 players that made more than 5M with my highest paid players at 6 and 6.3M. Steve's team was similar and Mike's team had Letang, but not much else for high paid guys.

So if I slow-roll my picks, so to speak, which I think I'm gonna do for the sake of entertainment, do people have a preference on what order I use? Couple of options:

Alphabetical by team name (Anaheim through Winnipeg)
By position (FWD, then D, then G)
By position (G, then D, then FWD)
By talent (Best first, worst last)
By talent (Worst first, best last)

By last years standings, so kind of like worst to best or best to worst but without giving away how you value the players.

Yeah, this is what I'm gonna do. I'll generate a random order and then go one-by-one,letting everyone know who's up next so they can speculate or whatever.

Just do it by team, or whatever is easier for you.

If he isn't doing it by team is he doing it by player height?

I was going to suggest by the number of hairs on their head, from most to least.
