Waiver Claim Rules
* Teams can make only one waiver claim per 24 hour period.
* Teams can't place claims on their own waived players.
* Successful claims move team to the bottom of the priority list.
* Per the new CBA, players that clear waivers and are assigned to a minor league team DON'T have to clear re-entry waivers.

Players are only subject to waivers when they're being sent down. If they clear, they don't have to be waived a second time to be recalled...hence, no re-entry waivers.

So far, no players that have been waived have been claimed so all the players listed in the opening post can be recalled without having to be exposed to waivers. Obviously, if you claim a guy on waivers, they have to stay on your active roster. You'd have to waive them to send them down. Players that clear waivers are exempt from waivers until they are recalled back to the active roster. To send them down again, they must clear waivers again.

Also as a refresher to everyone...in the case of a veteran free agent that signs after the start of the season (for example: Chuck Kobasew, who signed a deal with Pittsburgh today)...Kobasew (as a contracted player) is not waiver exempt.

He is able to be added to the active roster within the next week of league play without having to clear waivers. However, if they aren't added to the active roster, they will be placed on waivers the following Tuesday at noon.

If the choice is to send them down upon signing rather than being added to the active roster, they must clear waivers regardless.

For a player that clears waivers and is sent down, that waiver exempt status is good for as long as they are still "down in the minors".

which i guess is your way to say "re-entry don't exist anymore" :)

(a player can be recalled without going through waivers even if he didn't go through waivers already)

Granted, 're-entry waivers' is an old term but it's something we're familiar with before this concept was taken out in this latest CBA. By now, I hope everyone knows about this but it doesn't heard to keep that note in there.

For me, I need to keep a list of the players who've cleared so I can keep track if someone calls them back up to the active roster.
