Agree. Berg should have been aware but he wasn't, likely would have made a trade had he known he wasn't cap compliant - little mistake, not a big deal. I think a warning is more than enough... he's already making moves now to be under the cap. Be less lenient next time.

Next year, a lot of this work will no longer be your responsibility. There will be some enhancements on the Google side that will make each team's jobs easier.

Shoalzie wroteCOLONTyler's mistake was in how he entered the birthdates of several of his players.

Look at his spreadsheet...he put Tikhonov down as '12-5-88' (December 5, 1988)...which would've made him 26 according to the spreadsheet and he'd appear as waiver exempt.

His birthdate is actually May 12, 1988 (5-12-88). He's actually 27 and he would've had to clear waivers if he wanted to start him in the minors.

He should've had to go through waivers on October 6 with the rest of the other waiver eligible players from roster submission.
Just for arguements sake. Why doesnt the google docs give me a error for waivers on the right? I made a mistake by entering the date backwards however when setup properly as suggested it still does not give me the proper warning.

It wouldn't have warned you because you didn't have his salary entered in your roster submission.

That's odd that it wouldn't give the waiver warning for May 12, 1988 as the birthdate.

FYI, any 1988 date is waiver eligible. 26 year Olds ar waiver eligible. The date is 1989 now. Gosh.

At the end of the day, its some scrub - could care less what happens here and out. Im guessing ill get a fine for human error in data entry and lose my player. moving on.

Again, the error doesn't matter. He is waiver eligible either way. It's more likely you are using an old googledocs sheet. Same thing cliff was doing.

So. I've taken the liberty to do some testing.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 1601733349

Example 1: The exempt field is empty, which is should be, he is not exempt
Example 2: assigned properly to the minors, get a warning
Example 3: no salary, no warning. As it should be.

I assumed that too but he is using the sheet Mike created.

By all rights. he should be a free agent:

His contract was not submitted during roster submission nor week 1 nor did he have the cap to add him to his bench during roster submission. His cap hit is 1,040,000, but NJD only had $1,030,400 in cap space
He is 27 years old, not waiver exempt eligible

Bump.

It will be resolved by next roster lock but fairly certain he won't be a free agent anyone could claim due to Tyler listing him on fantrax and googledocs.

With the amount of book-keeping required in this league, there has to be a level of acceptance for human error. It has happened in the past and it will continue to happen.
