How Playoffs Work Under the New NHL Divisions

-Top 3 teams in each division make the playoffs.
-Wild card teams are seeded seventh and eighth in each Conference (allowing for a maximum of 5 teams from one division per conference in the playoffs).
-Division winners are seeded first and second in each Conference and meet the wild card teams in the opening round of the playoffs. (1-versus-8 and 2-versus-7).
-Teams finishing second and third in each Division play the first round of the playoffs within the Division regardless of how teams are seeded 3-6.
-Second round is 2 winning teams from each division playing off (if 1 of the Wild Card team wins round 1 and is the 3rd team from same division, they would play against winning team from the other division)
-Round 3 is 2 winning teams from East and 2 from West
-Final round for Stanley Cup is East winner vs West winner.

Caps still undefeated and overall leader at 15-0-0 and 350 pts
Flyers moves to 2nd in Metro - Islanders fall to 3rd
Pens move up from 7th to 5th at the expense of Columbus-7th and New Jersey-6th

In the Atlantic, Sabres remains atop the division with a comfortable 35 point lead over Toronto, who moves up to 2nd over Boston
Tampa moving up, on the strength of going 8-0 the past 2 weeks, jumps from 7th to 4th
Montreal, Florida and Ottawa all dropping a notch.
Wings drops to last place in the East with Carolina leapfrogging them for 15th.

Over to the West, we find Calgary, LA and Anaheim still 1,2,3 in the Pacific Division
Edmonton 4th and Vancouver 5th, overtake San Jose, who drops to 6th.
Coyotes still dead last in the BBKL with a measly 133 points, going 0-4 again this week.

St. Louis had a fine effort to go 4-0 this week to grab first in the Central Division, dropping the Wild to 2nd and Preds to 3rd
Winnipeg and Colorado switch places for 4th and 5th while Dallas and Chicago hold down the final 2 spots in the Central.

Congrats to Washington, Pittsburgh, Tampa, Buffalo, St. Louis, Colorado and Calgary, all going 4-0 this week.
