Out of my own curiosity I was looking at my drafts and was pleasantly surprised how many players had at least made an NHL appearance even if they didn't pan out. Looking at others around them and most didn't sniff the NHL.
Starting in 2017 since too early to pass judgement on 2018s
Players I drafted who made the NHL:
2014 5/8 NHL
2nd - DeAngelo
5th - Nogier
6th - Bishop, Lernout, Pilut
2015 5/7 NHL
3rds - Friedman
4ths - Gilbert, Borgman
5ths - Cirelli
7ths - Blais
2016 7/13 NHL
3rds - Kyrou, Lindgren, Anderson, Pitlick
4ths - Lajoie, Stillman
5ths - Caamano
2017 2/10 NHL (ugly one for me in the late rounds)
2nds - Vaakanainen, Norris
I think this would stand up well against any other GM since I don't have many picks most years and have drafted some NHL depth. I've never missed on a 1st or 2nd rounder, but I've only had one 1st and 3 2nds. Goes to show you can build a team without relying on the draft since Svech is the only pick on my roster I drafted myself in the first two rounds.
If anyone wants to brag about your drafts I'd welcome it. Also it's really humbling to look at BBKL 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounds to see who I could have drafted and realize for the most part picks generally end up worthless despite so many GMs overvaluing them in present day BBKL.
