Yeah nice job on Leblanc. Was shocked he dropped as far as he did. It was a strange draft to be sure, lots of guys dropping, others reaching. Excited to see where guys land in the real draft...

Monk wroteCOLONI think we were lucky that Chuck had about 30? Picks, and Lee had quite a few, made it go faster.. keep in mind the actual nhl draft has also started as early as the 22nd-23rd

June 1st start date would be ideal imo, easy to remember too and we get at least 3 weeks and a few days

lol a bit early to talk about steals, isn't it?

I guess you simply refer to guys that were supposed to go earlier.

Nekolenko might belong more to the sleepers than reaches category considering where you picked him. And montour to the steals instead.

I liked Pollock at 61 but he still looks like a project. Lemieux, Dvorak, Irving and Perron at those spots also seem like pretty solid picks to me.

Lots of busts though :P

Yeah was saying steal based on where they are projected to go.

biggest part of the pie coming up, stoked for the most unpredictable 2nd draft day i can remember.

I found this draft to be really weird. People keep saying it is a weak draft. To me in the 1st round it's about risky picks (especially if you select Oh Sang and DeAngelo instead of Barbashev lol) rather than lack of talent. What I find to be weak is the 2nd round (I ended up trading down in fact) and what makes it so weird for me is the slim difference between the 2nd and the 5th round.
Way weaker than average 2nd round but above average 5th and 6th round depth, so I think NHL teams have a lot of different guys ranked in the 2nd round.. and some will be able to grab in the 5th/6th guys they had in their 2nd.

Rounds 2-7 will be a lot of fun to follow just to see where the balance of the guys end up. Not too many surprises in the first round...you'll get a lot of the fringe late 1st/early 2nd round guys get picked in the first and a few slide to the 2nd round...like Demko or Barbashev. Any guy in the top 40 for most people are guys that could either be first or second rounds. You don't expect many guys in the 50-200 range to jump up to the first round. Everyone knows who the top guys are but beyond that, it's a mixed opinion on remaining rounds.

Schmaltz to Chicago is very good situation. I anticipated Ekblad to Florida and Bennett to Calgary. So far in the 2nd, Nedeljkovic, Pettersson, Jacobs and MacInnis are off the board. The only guys I'm suspect of being drafted are Engvall and Hayden Lavigne. We'll see what happens.
