First, let's let the lottery play out and I still need to hit on GP but I'm not going to lie...I'm thinking draft now.

I might've said in earlier posts that I'm only interested in a forward (namely a center) but I can't say no to taking a defenseman if they're truly the best player at the spot. Early lean is between Ekblad and Reinhart...but I'm trying reading up on the other top guys so my board is far from settled.

Dougie Hamilton

I'd rather pick Ekblad if that's what you're offering. I'd like to see some forward(s) being offered my way if teams want to take my pick.

Fair enough.
When I thought I was 4th I was doing a good job convincing myself Dal Colle is as good of compensation as the other guys, but really it's between Ekblad, Bennett, and Reinhart for me. Huge bennett fan so that might be my guy, but Ekblad could be the ultimate h2h defender, and Reinhart has been top forward all along, and probably the safest pick to be a top guy of anyone. Will be an interesting draft for sure.

I'm about 50-50 trading the pick...whichever makes the most sense. Where I end up in the order and which ever prospect emerges above the rest will play into what I do. When we lift the trade freeze, I'll love to see what teams have in mind.

Draisaitl is a fucking beast. Hope I can at least stay at #5 after the lottery.

You are going to get paid, there are at least 5 other GMs in addition to myself that will make sure that is the case, and it's not because I think you're a good guy.

Just like last year...I gotta explore all options. Keeping the pick is very much in play. I obviously lose all leverage if I say "I have to trade this pick". Not only will teams need to bid against each other, they need to bid against the value of me keeping the pick. That value has yet to be determined but it'll be free reign when we re-open things after our season and I want to be open-minded to anything.

I thought non playoff teams were allowed to trade once our playoffs started, that's how I remember it being in years past at least

I do not recall us being allowed to last year.
