Not bad. Was expecting Perron, though. Could look better for Montreal depending on what Halak signs for.

If he signs, apparently there were no contract talks between the Blues and Halak before doing this trade. KHL?!?!

Must mean that either Price is the man or the Habs are looking elsewhere. Great pickup for the Blues but what happens with Chris Mason?

They must at least know what Halak was asking for and willing to pay, or at least pay close to it.

or perhaps not... its not really a killing asking price... similar to what we paid for the one who must not be named.

Well the Blues have 28 million in cap space. I'm sure they can get a deal done.

Well Mason is a UFA this year so obviously the blues are going in another direction.

As for Montreal Ive always stood by Price, and I think this will give him a boost of confidence. Price is younger and has a higher upside than Halak. Gauthier is either going to look like a genius if Price pans out....or an idiot if he doesnt. We get two solid prospects, out of the deal and it will give us some cap room to play around with. Im assuming theyre going to resign Sandford and call him up to backup Price as well.

Until we see what Price does its hard to judge the deal IMO.

That explains it...definite upgrade for the Blues.

He's only 25...I imagined he was late 20s or pushing 30.

This move makes no sense to me...Why the fuck would you trade away your best player for two prospects?

Price has massive upside, but there is so much pressure on him in Montreal, and with this deal the fans and media are only going to scrutinize him more...Very, very risky move for Montreal, but Eller is a damn good two way center, no doubt about it...

i like it for montreal. sell halak on a high when his free agent status is uncertain (salary hit etc). get two prospects and eller is going to fit in perfectly.

p.s. this means backes keeps his faceoffs from the wing ;). lol its all on price now.

you just had to know that they would never trade Jesus Price, come on now...it was always Halak that was going to be traded lol.

Anyways, nice fucking trade Montreal...fucking douches!

It's a high risk/high reward move no doubt, not sure I would take that risk on goaltending, but I'm sure the Habs have done their homework, and obviously they believe in Price, and who can blame them? I'm more concerned with the media pressure that will be placed on Carey now that he is the guy in net.

Man, I really think Montreal could've gotten more. 25 year old goalie who was the sole reason why the Canadiens made it to the playoffs in the first place. Not only that, he CARRIED the team past Washington and Pittsburgh. Eller is a nice prospect..but I would've rather gotten something much more proven at the NHL level.

Agreed, I really think Montreal could of gotten way more.
Allan Walsh said Montreal never even entered contract talks. Wow.
A sign and trade should of at least been approached, but better to do it now. This free agent market is saturated with goalies, wait too long and there would be no market.
