There is an easy fix to make sure players like Iginla and Jokinen don't get screwed. I don't understand what the big deal in changing the rule to only FOR > 0.3 is. It would solve all problems.
Shiv, i showed you twice a situation that won't be solved, rather affected, by using FOR only, but you just choose to ignore it.
Also, it seems unless a supposedly flawed rule is changed in 1 hour it means the guy who presented the system doesn't want to change anything and don't get it.
Relax. And show me the population please, that would help your case much more than Jokinen.

Should be FOR or 700 FOT (or some other reasonable number, not like 100), instead of top 4.

what situation won't be solved?
this, again:
kyuss wroteCOLON not to spoil it, but the system will never be perfect anyway.
a guy can have a FOR <.3 only thx to the fact some FO specialist were on his team until the trade deadline: that specialist was traded, that makes your guy a top 4 hence a C, next year your guy record a .5 FOR => turns out having him as C despite the <.3 was the better assessment.
just to show there is not a perfect system.
SuperMario wroteCOLONMik this is the best way I can put it. Your system of Top 4 Cs can result in "flaws." Using just 0.3 FOR avoids those "flaws" and maintains everyone else to be centers anyways.
quite funny considering the top4 thing was the starting proposal in the CC and i brought up the FOR to add it and try to make it work.

So it's not like i'm obsessed with the top 4.. it's just a way to simplify things while making an uneducated guess for the following season (hence not considering the traded guys): GMs can instantly see who the top 4 are, whereas we don't have a FOR stat page.

IF we'll deem it's better to make it top 3, or top 4 AND > 450, or whatever, then fine.
I'm just sayin using only FOR is potentially flawed as well: suppose to have a guy at .29 who is the top center left on his team after the trades.. i guess he would be an over .3 guy the following season, which is the one we are caring about.

yeah we even talked about this and all agreed Marleau and Jokinen as C's were extremely iffy and should be looked into....

Also Malkin as a W is retarded.

Why is Malkin on wing retarded? with 200 FOT in 852:28toi for a FOR of .23 -> he's not playing centre that often, less then either Marleau or Joki

200 FOT in 43 games projects to 381 on a season, no where near Marleaus 550, and nearly identical to jussi's

he was 7th on his team for FOT, and I know he was hurt, but the Injury argument does exactly work either as 3 of the penguins ahead of him played less games. Whereas Jussi was 4th on his team.

to be clear, Jussi Jokinen is the player ID-ed as a problem listing... and one who perhaps because he meets neither b) nor c) in the centre listing rule, a) should be void ???

kyuss wroteCOLONyeah that would be a tough break. Would be fixed by mid-season though and if the system flaws affect only *one* player in the league for a few months, i think we should be celebrating.
Tough Break?

If Iginla became a centre because of this rule, that'd be the biggest joke in the history of fantasy hockey.
You know what's an even bigger joke? Having multiple teams with 7 or more players taking face offs regulaurly...

And FTR there were SEVERAL occasions throughout the year where Iginla had more FOW than any other Flame; I realize having him as a winger is unideal, but based on last seasons results alone, it is nowhere near as laughable as you seem to believe.

Long story short, the proposed system is a better solution that the previous method, and to date the best system available. Nothing is perfect, so let's get over the notion that any imperfection makes the system flawed.

Too much on this topic today. Step back.

The CC + admins are talking about the issues that have been raised - I think it makes sense.

Florida Chris wroteCOLONSo is this list 100% official?
it is, but

1) that doesn't mean there can't be any mistake or omission.
If any mistake* is pointed out, the list gets fixed accordingly.
* "mistake" means wrongly listed accordingly with our criteria http://bbkl.ca/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3663

2) a forward that is not in the list is not automatically a winger, take a look at the 2nd post of this thread:
kyuss wroteCOLONThe list above does not cover all centers in the league:
even without appearing on the list, players who have yet to play enough games to be qualified accordingly with our criteria (less than 26 games last year and never 40 gp in one NHL season) could still be BBKL centers, depending on:
- how they were listed by the NHL when drafted: http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftsearch.htm (e.g. Ryan Johansen, Jaden Schwartz..)
- how they are listed by CBS if they were never drafted (e.g. Marcel Mueller, Chris Mueller..)

ROOKIES
Here will be progressively reported new positions (if due) for players that last year had less than 26 games and never reached 40 gp in one NHL season:

Silfverberg C -> W
Vincour W -> C

Please report in this thread about any rookie you notice to need his CBS position to be changed.
Note that the league will keep the rights to edit the rookie's position after the beginning of the season if found to be wrongly assessed. i.e. not reporting a mistaken position out of convenience (or distraction) won't benefit you: as soon as the player will become relevant a mistake will be probably spotted and fixed anyway.
as you can see though, if a veteran forward is not on the list he is indeed automatically a winger for the start of the season, unless a mistake is pointed out accordingly with our criteria.
