Holmstrom was a reach, I didn't see him ranked as a 1st rounder

KapG wroteCOLONI’d say Boldy, Pelletier and Holmstrom were great picks for their selective teams.

Boldy to Minnesota is great
Pelletier to Calgary is great
Holmstrom to the Long Island is another good fit.

None of them were reaches
No issue with the 1st two. Holmstrom was a minor reach imo.

I expected him to go early in the 2nd round based on talent. Opinion likely depends on how you view his season playing through injury.

Caulfield doesn’t necessarily become their best prospect btw. Did you see the season josh brook just had?

Sure did. Caufield is a better prospect.

In your opinion, OK

He’s way better than hoglander who everyone had going in the first...

Also inconsequential. Could quibble about who their best prospect is, but the Habs don't really have another prospect in the system with his skill set.

Fwiw I really like Caulfield :)

It took me a while to decide between him and Boldy when I was drafting at 12

Time will tell. There is no way that I would have taken him over Brink or Hoglander though. Maybe they look like geniuses down the road and also wouldn't be the 1st time teams got it wrong. It was a little early for him imo, but it's also the point in the draft where a lot of guys projected in the 2nd round make a jump and others fall into the 2nd round for whatever reason. A lot of it depends on team and what they value.

He’s more skilled than Hoglander imo.

He did have a couple major injuries within the last little while, so you could put that as a question mark against him I suppose.

Will 100% disagree with that all the way. He is a better skater than Hoglander. No question. Hoglander is far more skilled. Skating is likely the sole reason why Brink and Hoglander are still on the board. For Kaliyev, it's likely some combination of his skating and compete level.

Preds gonna be lethal in top six scoring with fully developed result of Tolvanen/Afanasyev/Tomasino

Marshall Warren is also a project D in Dumba-lite. Watch out!

Grabbed Simon Holmstrom in our second round at 41 and he went 23rd.

Pelletier I grabbed second round at 34 and he went 26!

3 first rounders this draft...Boldy, Pelletier and Holmstrom. I’ll take it :)
Vladislav firstov I took at 72 he was taken at 42. Having s nice draft with my first 4 picks

Colton Ellis went 92 I took him at 103

Trent miner I took in the 4th he went in the 7th

Carter gylander I took in the 5th he was drafted in the 7th

Cole moberg I took in the 5th he went in the 7th

Bill Constantinou was not drafted...I took him in the 4th

Rheyneuclaudes I took in the 6th...he wasn’t drafted

Tikkanen I took in the 6th and he was also not drafted.

73 Trey Fix-Wolansky 2018 draftee
78 Dillon Hamaliuk - 94 (55) +23
87 Nikita Alexandrov - 101 (62) +25
93 Jordan Spence - 90 (95) -3
108 Jayden Struble - 58 (46) +62
183 Ben Brinkman - 166 (173) +10
197 Keean Washkurak 184 (155) +42
201 Ilya Mironov - 198 undrafted
217 Dmitri Voronkov - undrafted (114) +103

Had a nice little draft, got 3 NHL 2nd rounders with a BBKL 4th and 2 3rds. One undrafted 7th, but the other goes in the 4th getting a nice value bump. Shalagin who I took last year got drafted too for a bonus.
