2018 and Beyond

I didn't want to steal Shep's thunder with his exciting news because I have exciting news of my own. My wife and I are expecting our first child in April...a baby boy.

What does that mean for me? Well, I hope it doesn't change too much. Fantasy sports has been a great hobby of my mine through my single years and my married without kids years. I can't abandon it because it's been something I've enjoyed for so long and I need that as an escape and I enjoy being part of this community as well as in my other leagues.

I've hinted to a couple people that I've already begun designing next year's sheet. What I'd like to do is have the 2018 sheet ready to go once our season ends. The NHL regular season wraps up April 7 and my wife's due date is the 13th. I'll do the roll out of the new sheet around then. I've got some new innovations for the sheet and I'll explain that more in April.

We do our draft usually at the beginning of June but I'll probably be on "sabbatical" following his birth. I will be back for the draft and I'll be around for other key league matters. Following the draft I will have some stretches where I'll be less available than normal. I will take full advantage of the offseason and spend a lot of time with my family.

I wanted to let you guys know what's been going on with me. I might've been less responsive than normal in the last few weeks. Things are getting pretty exciting for Mrs. S and myself. I'd appreciate everyone's understanding and patience. I want to continue to work with all of you to make this a great league.

Thanks!

Congrats Scott!! Great news. Is there any way to make this sheet as the prototype going forward so you either have minimal changes to make or whoever is savvy with spreadsheets can easily take it over for you??

I hope it doesn't have to come to that but I'm trying to simplify the entire process as I learn more about what works and what doesn't. I'm juggling what little free time I have left before April rolls around.

What would most likely to happen for me is I'd relinquish my role as being a GM and just stay on as an admin (if you guys wouldn't mind that). I want to see how this all plays out and see how much of my free time is taken up by being a parent. I won't know until it happens though. I want to have it all but being a dad is something I've wanted for a while and I want to devote my time and energy to my wife and son while still being able to do some of my favorite hobbies...which includes being in this league. We'll see what happens.
