Karl Alzner

Post by Florida Chris »

Been asked about him, and by a couple of sly Gms looking for a bargin. I understand his value is not as high and I am willing to bend a little, but I have no interest in giving him away. If interested make a offer or let me know. I would like a D-man back, and could upgrade or downgrade.

It's not that these are GMs are sly and wants a bargain lol, it's that they recognize Alzner and his type dmen are being slowly phased out of the NHL and probably wont see much NHL time for long on a permanent basis. Most probably value him at a very solid 6th/7th dman who will happily fill in as injury gp which is worth like a 3rd ish

He's hadn't missed a single game in 8 seasons before this year and is only 30 years old.

Most definitely worth more than a 3rd.

He def wont gain any more gp favours in MTL for sure.
He'll have to be dealt and have GOOD uses for their particular playing system
His speed wasnt his forte to begin with, and on top he had gotten even slower. His style of defense may only be useful for penalty kill and thats at best, what he may become... A PK specialist

I wouldn't just speak these things out loud to troll Chris. Im merely sharing what facts i know based on real analysis and observation of change in NHL.

I had alzner and someone thought he'd gain mad periphs and traded me will butcher straight up. Butcher was regarded overrated for putting up 2 many pts for how little shots he takes in real life. Funny how these things work out cuz if anyone watches butcher play he's more than just a pp specialist. Elite hands + agility and mobility + offensive awareness.

I have been offered more that a 3rd ;) . He has to be a bit banged up tho, as he is still a very good Defensive D-man. Im only thinking of moving him now, because my team finally woke up, and if I could upgrade him, that would be nice.

Depends on how much playing time he gets. There is a reason he isn't playing anymore - he sucks. Go figure that the season the Caps finally win is their first without Alzner. Dude is probaly more an anchor at this point - and not the good kind.

Can probably close this block down. Probably not going to get offered what you want and doubt anyone is going to pay up for a guy that's been getting scratched this season.
